Muslim boy dating a non muslim girl

I have learned this from a colleague.

Is it true that a Muslim boy is not allowed to date or marry a non-Muslim girl?

According to their Islam religion, a Muslim man is not allowed to date any non-Muslim woman. How about if you truly love a non-Muslim woman? What would you choose? Would you follow your heart or your religion?

Any insight about this issue is much appreciated.

this is my first post here
no , it is not true
firstly , Muslim boy MUST meet a Muslim/non-Muslim girl before marriage
but , in the presence of another person with them
the third person can be father/brother of the girl
they cannot meet in lonely place ,alone
second , a Muslim can marry a non Muslim girl , provided , they girl is follower of a scripture
scripture may be bible ,Torah or Veda
if you have access to quran pl refer surah 5 verse 5 or i will give the verse if you want
meeting of a boy with a girl is a prerequisite in Muslim marriage
and girl's decision is final , no one can force the girl to marry against her will
Islam is practical religion and it is very human
however , dating (boy with the girl) alone is prohibited in Islam
you know what will happen when a boy and a girl meet in a lonely place

Hi Mushtaq,

Thank you so much for that information. At least I was enlightened that it is not prohibited for a Muslim guy to date a non Muslim girl, as long as they have chaperon. I really admire this concept. I hope every religion should implement this concept. this would also avoid unexpected pregnancies.

Follow up question: is it true that a Muslim guy can marry more than one woman?

I am not a Muslim, but I know that a Muslim guy can marry more than one woman, as long as he has the capability to provide the needs of his wives, he can marry as many woman as he wants. Accordingly, if a Muslim guy has a lot of wives, that means he is rich.

for you information , Islam is the only religion on the earth which instructs man to marry ONE woman preferably
it commands man to treat all his wifes equally and also warns him that he CANNOT do justice among them
whole through the history , men used to marry lots of woman
Islam was the first religion to put a dead line for this
i would like to add one more information here
Islam was the first religion which gave the right for the woman to divorce man
even in US this law was established in late 30's

i think , it is better to marry four woman then having secret affairs
of course , you are correct when you said man should have wealth to have more than one wife
because you know in Islam the dowry should be paid by man and not by the woman

Good thing you brought it up, at least I have now a clear idea about that. what happened to the instruction to marry one woman then? Was it altered? Because i have a Muslim friend, and currently he has 2 wives. So it is giving me impression that Muslim can indeed marry more than one woman. I just don't have any idea that Islam is the first religion to marry only one woman. I believe in you when you say that a long time ago, people tend to marry multiple women. Even King Solomon, Jacob and other prophets in the Old Testament. Thanks for that information anyway.

i think you are not aware of biblical laws
first let me tell you one thing , as per bible , Jesus(peace be upon him) clearly says in bible to follow laws of OT

only in early thirties and after that
during world war 11 , concordat was made between church and rulers and church was made to the back seat

i don't remember the verse , but there is another verse stating that first born of first wife should inherit father's property

then after paying dowry .....marriage ..then having four wives ....then responsibilities also quadruplicate
he should treat all four equally
for example , four flats , four cars , four TVs, four air conditioners , four .....
and the list goes on
however, if he is not financially sound and want to have more than one wife even then he should treat them equally as per his strength
so think about it , it is not a joke
if he cannot do these things , GOD commands him to fast
so quran sanction polygamy under conditions and not blindly

Please understand that Christians have diversity of beliefs. We have different religions and some of the Christians are still following the Old testaments as stated on the link you have provided. But it must be noted that there are some Christians like me who are not already thriving on the Old Testaments law. When Jesus died on the cross, we are already under his law, not with OT law. and what is his law? According to Galatians 6:2, that is to which is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…and to love your neighbor as yourself” stated in Matthew 22:37-39). there are two types of laws in every religion
1.spiritual laws
2.humanitarian laws
these was the message of every scripture on the earth
man never had intellectual to device laws , all laws and all scriptures were given by GOD
yes , i agree , in due course , scriptures were adulterated by men who thought themselves as wise men and thus they look outdated for the people who came after their ages
when they got cruel and oppressive , GOD send messengers to correct those laws at each and every stage
for eg:Noah(pbuh) was sent to abolish unaccountability,lot(pbuh) was sent to abolish homosexuality, Moses(pbuh) was given the perfect set of laws to Jews ,Mohammad(pbuh) was sent to restructure Moses(pbuh) adulterated laws
if i go by your views , can you tell me what laws that Jesus(pbuh) gave to divide inheritance
as a Muslim , i believe in all scriptures and messengers
